My research aim is to understand the interaction between nitrogen availability and nodulation in Medicago and Pea. Nitrate and ammonia are the two main forms that could uptake by plant. The first identified and the most well studied nitrate transporter is NRT1.1/NPF6.3 in Arabidopsis. There are three NRT1.1 in Medicago and four in Pea. Recently we discovered a central role for MtNRT1.1A/NPF6.5 in plant chloride uptake and nitrate preference.
