Interest: Legumes have the ability to form nodules and fix atmospheric N2, while high nitrate concentration inhibits N-fixation in legume nodules. Nitrate is assumed to enter the nodules via nitrate transporters, but these have not yet been identified, and how they are regulated at the transcriptional and post translational levels is not known.
